(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS social studies teacher Samantha Stoltz and student services receptionist Kari Keech-Babcock were recently recognized as the school’s nominees for the Manatee District 2021 Excellence in Education Awards.

Stoltz won the Excellence in Education Teacher of the Year recognition.

“I felt honored when I found that I won the award. I knew I was nominated but I didn’t know that I won it,” said Stoltz.

The Excellence in Education Awards selection criteria stated, “The Teacher of the Year demonstrates a superior ability to foster excellence in education and contribute to the continuous improvement of student learning and school environment.”

Kari Keech-Babcock is honored by LRHS.

Keech-Babcock won the Excellence in Education Support Employee of the Year award.

“I was in shock to know I won. I was very honored and excited, and I was surprised,” said Keech-Babcock.

The Excellence in Education Awards selection criteria says “The Support Employee of the Year extends themself beyond basic required duties by displaying initiative and creativity, as well as contributing to the students, school, and district they serve,”

The Excellence in Education is an annual competition that recognizes outstanding educators and support staff from each school.  District officials will narrow the nominees down to single district winners for both teacher and support staff member at a celebration next February.

LRHS Principal Dustin Dahlquist said, “The faculty and staff at LRHS are always amongst the top educators in Manatee County. We congratulate our impressive list of nominees for all that they do for our Mustangs.”
