LRHS softball champs take the field to be recognized by the Tampa Bay Rays

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Mustangs softball state champs were recognized at the Tampa Bay Rays baseball game on Sunday at Tropicana Field.

The championship team was announced to the entire Rays stadium and were shown on the jumbotron as they walked across the field.

Senior Ella Coiner said, “It was awesome being recognized by the Rays and it was so much fun being able to watch my favorite Major League Baseball team play.”

Varsity softball head coach TJ Goelz said, “It is always great to receive recognition and visibility as a state championship program which is what we are and what we will continue to be.”

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity softball team will recieve their state championship rings and be honored at the LRHS home football game on Friday, Oct. 1.

This past spring the Mustangs beat Park Vista High School 14-4 to become state champions.

During halftime at the upcoming game the Mustangs will be recognized for their accomplishments and awarded their state championship rings.

 Center-fielder junior Cassidy McLellan said, “I am excited to get our rings because it is like our reward for accomplishing something that has never been done before with our varsity softball team.”

The football game will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1.  The team is scheduled to be awarded during halftime.
