LRHS seeks phones for drones

LRHS junior Chad Anderson heads the school’s drone efforts.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS engineering department is looking for spare iPhones for the school’s  new drone program.

In this program, Mustangs will work towards gaining their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 drone pilot’s licenses.  

Mustangs who get this license will be able to fly drones out of eyesight and can apply to get a job flying drones.

Engineering and robotics teacher Bryan Richards added, “This license will allow Mustangs the opportunity to expand their ideas and options upon graduation.”

Junior Chad Anderson is leading the program and hopes to enter drone competitions.

Work with drones is a growing industry in technology and this license can help Mustangs looking to enter that field.

Donated iPhones can be dropped off in room 420. They must be an iPhone 6 or newer and the data will be removed before use.
