Kaitlyn Harper- Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Like students across the country, many Mustangs have gotten jobs to make some extra money during the school year.
According to the National Restaurant Association, around 30% of high schoolers working in the United States have jobs during the school year. Out of all high schoolers working, over 50% work in restaurants.
LRHS senior Steven Brown works at Michelangelo’s pizzeria as a food expediter.
As a food expediter, Brown bags take-out orders in the kitchen and brings them out to the front for pickup.
Brown said, “I would advise anyone looking for a job to apply to multiple places to see where you like best and so you have backup options.”
Junior Sara Cestero works as a hostess at Tandoor Indian Cuisine.
Cestero stated, “I greet customers, sit them at tables, bus their tables and clean the tables. I also make the lunch and dinner rolls and clean off the wet dishes.”

Cestero enjoys the job because of how nice her coworkers are and the overall environment of the job.
Sophomore Summer Araujo also enjoys her job because of her coworkers.
Araujo works at Clean Juice and makes smoothies for customers. Araujo applied for a job because she knew it would be a great opportunity to get experience.
Junior Megan Waldrop works at Pacific Counter and makes sushi bowls and boba tea for customers while also working register. Waldrop decided to get a job to get work experience.
All these Mustangs recommend choosing a job that you really want because being stuck at a job you hate is the worst.
