Mustangs look forward to NFL

Jared Baker- Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- As the National Football League (NFL) kicks off their season on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021.  Anticipation among Mustangs build.

Junior Ryan Hanson said, “I am excited to see how the Bucs will handle this season coming off their Superbowl win. I think that Bruce Arians is taking this team in a great direction, especially with the talent of Tom Brady and his impressive offensive line.”

Hanson added, “Even though Saquon Barkley had an injury at the start of the last season I believe Barkley can have a spectacular season as long as the Giants hand off the ball a lot and he stays healthy.”

Junior Joseph Vilasi said, “I am most excited to see Washington Football Team’s season. They have a young and deep roster this year and can make a serious run in the playoffs to try to get another Superbowl.”

Vilasi feels that Washington’s defense could be top five this year with their best defensive ends (DE) Chase Young, Montez Sweat, and Landon Collins.

Washington also picked up some key weapons such as Adam Humphries and Curtis Samuel for their veteran quarterback (QB) Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Vilasi continued, “I think it’s safe to say that the Washington has the best odds on beating out the Giants, Cowboys, and Eagles, making Washington the winner of their division. Washington can also compete against the talented National Football Conference (NFC) teams and knock them out of the playoffs to make the Superbowl.”

Junior Chris Galli said, “I am excited to watch the (New England) Patriots this year. (Head coach) Bill Belichick has really taken the time this offseason to accquire some players from Free Agency.”

The Patriots picked up some key players such as Hunter Henry (Tight End), Nelson Agholor (Wide Receiver), and Matthew Judon (Linebacker).

Galli stated, “I’m really looking forward to Mac Jones’s rookie season. He can be a great leader and the quarterback to bring back Bill Belichick’s legacy. He played lights out in college for Alabama, and I feel like he can do that in NFL for the Patriots too.”

The Patriots added some key weapons and some good defenders to help their star cornerback, Stephon Gilmore. With these additions they look to make the playoffs after missing it last season.

Sophomore Leo Henderson said, “The team I’m excited to see this year is the (Cleveland) Browns. They have built a very good team and their run game is unstoppable. They also have weapons for (quarterback) Baker Mayfield so he can throw the ball more.”

Henderson continued, “I’m excited to watch Nick Chubb play this season. He did incredible last season and I think he can have a breakout year. The Browns are a run first team and with Nick Chubb as their running back the defense won’t stand a chance.”

The Browns finished Top 5 in rushing yards in the NFL last season. With the team being better this year, they can definitely be one of the most dominant teams in the American Football Conference this year.
