Olivia Ellis – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Coming from a family who has been fishing for decades, it has always been a great way for us to spend time together and get off our devices.
One of my fondest memories is when I was with my father and brother on a pathfinder in Bull Bay near Boca Grande. The day was warm and sunny, and the water was perfect.
I had been fishing for hours when suddenly came the greatest, most satisfying feeling anyone who fishes has experienced.
Taking the line 10 feet at a time, a 22-inch snook was on the hook. Putting up a fight for two minutes straight, the flopping rascal made it into the boat.
Due to the red tide occurrence in 2018, snook are still on the list of fish that cannot be kept. So, of course after getting a picture, the fish was returned back to its home.
Fishing has always been something that has helped me. It’s a great stress reliever and it also taught me to me how to be patient.
