(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) cadets lead the Pledge of Allegiance every morning at LRHS.

In the past, the pledge was led during  the morning television announcements, but this year principal Dustin Dahlquist came up with the idea to have JROTC cadets lead the Pledge.

Many of the JROTC cadets are thrilled to be able to say the pledge and consider it to be an honor.

Sophomore Brandon Rivera said, “I am excited to be able to do this as it makes me feel confident about the country I live in.”

LRHS JROTC instructor Sgt. William Cassidy said, “I am getting a lot of positive feedback from the faculty.”

Assistant Principal Valencia Lowen stated, “The LRHS staff and teachers love the idea of JROTC students saying the pledge, I thought it was a great idea!”

Cassidy added he is using upperclassmen cadets to lead first and giving the underclassmen the chance later in the year.

Sophomore Elaine Zdancewicz stated, “It feels very good to be able to honor the country and lead the pledge of allegiance.”

JROTC cadets say they hope this will be a tradition for years.
