Boys golf continues winning ways

The LRHS boys golf team started the 2021 season successfully.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS boys’ varsity golf team won their quad match on Tuesday, Aug. 31 at the Royal Lakes golf course against Bradenton Christian, Palmetto, and Southeast.

LRHS finished with a score of 148, Bradenton Christian was second with 167, Palmetto scored third with 180, and Southeast finished last with a score of 253.

The match’s top player was Mustang freshman Henry Burbee. In Burbee’s first match as a high school golfer, he finished one-under-par (35) to lead the Mustangs to a victory.

Last year’s team captain senior Johnny May had an even par (36) to help his team to a 19-shot victory.

The Mustangs’ next match is scheduled for 4 p.m., Sept. 2 at the Royal Lakes golf course. LRHS will be facing off Manatee, North Port, and Sarasota.
