Cassidy McLellan – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS junior Andrea Dietz has verbally committed to play division I beach volleyball at the University of North Florida (UNF).
Dietz said, “I chose UNF because I love all the girls that are going to play there, as well as the coaches. I also loved the campus and the feel of the school.”
Dietz also believes that UNF is her best chance to get an NCAA championship.
Dietz has been playing volleyball for 10 years. However, she only began consistently playing beach volleyball one year ago.
Dietz continued, “I like playing because the game is always changing and evolving, and no play is ever the same, so you are always getting better. I also love getting to meet new people at every tournament and as I train.”
Since she only began one year ago, Dietz had to begin her recruiting process right away.
“My favorite volleyball memory is my first showcase tournament because I played really well and got a lot of attention from college coaches,” continued Dietz.
Despite her excitement to begin the recruiting process, Dietz was also ready to finish it.
Dietz stated, “I am beyond excited because the recruiting process was really stressful but now I know I made all of my friends, family, coaches, and teammates proud.”
After making her big decision, Dietz set some goals for herself to accomplish before and during college.
Dietz explained, “Before college I hope to win nationals and maintain at least a 3.9 GPA. During college I hope to start as a freshman, be conference champions all four years, make it to NCAA finals, and maintain at least a 3.8 GPA.”
