(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS math teacher Meghan Sugalski has been nominated for the
“Extra Yard for Teachers” initiative.

The Extra Yard for Teachers initiative is hosted by the Southeastern Athletic Conference (SEC) and College Football Playoffs (CFP) Foundation and is committed to supporting teachers and bringing awareness to the importance of education.

Former Mustang Kinsey Goelz, a softball student-athlete at the University of Florida (UF), nominated Sugalski for being an impactful teacher to Goelz.

Sugalski said, “Kinsey is one of the rare students who cares about understanding the material and is not just in it for a grade.”

Sugalski is the only teacher to be nominated by UF this year.

Along with the nomination, LRHS will be given a grant of $5,000 for school supplies and materials needed throughout the 2021-2022 school year.

Sugalski added, “As a teacher we worry we aren’t making a large enough impact, but thanks to Kinsey and the SEC Extra Yard Teacher program, I know that what I do does have a positive impact.”
