Swim team expects success

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS swim team welcomed swimmers for the 2021-2022 season on Tuesday, Aug. 10.

LRHS varsity swim coach Steve Lubrino said, “We have a strong team returning from last year as well as some key additions.”

This is Lubrino’s second year coaching LRHS swim and his sixth-year overall coaching swim.

Mustangs practice Monday through Friday at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA.

Sophomore Shelby Kovatch said, “I think we have a great group of motivated and talented swimmers this season and will accomplish a lot this season.”

  • Wed 9/1 vs Bayshore/BC/ St. Stephans/ Braden River @TBA
  • Wed 9/8 vs Bayshore and Manatee @TBA
  • Thur. 9/16 vs Braden River/ Parish/ Southeast @GT. Bray
  • Mon 9/21 vs Braden River/ Manatee/ St. Stephans @LWR YMCA
  • 10/16 Tri-Counties @TBA
  • 10/30 Districts @TBA
  • 11/6 Regionals @TBA
  • 11/12 States @Sailfish, Stuart Florida

Lubrino added, “I think we will have a strong chance to repeat as Manatee County champions and to send four or five swimmers to the state championships.”
