Schiller ends successful LRHS career

LRHS boys basketball coach Jeremy Schiller is leaving LRHS.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Longtime LRHS Physical Education (P.E.) teacher and varsity basketball coach Jeremy Schiller will be leaving LRHS after 10 years. His scheduled last day is Friday, August 13.

He will be going to International Management Group (IMG) Academy to coach basketball full time.

Schiller stated, “I have been offered and accepted a position and am pending a background check. This will be an excellent opportunity to work with some of the best future athletes in the world.”

Schiller has made many significant memories and relationships with Mustang athletes during his tenure at LRHS and plans to remain an active supporter of LRHS athletics.

Schiller has coached the Mustangs to many successes. His accomplishments include – 8A state runner up in 2019, 8A final 4 in 2017, reginal champs of 2014 and 2019, district champs 2016-2019, top five in academics for nine straight years, which lead the team to win Boys Basketball Academic State Champions of 2013 and 2019. 

In 2020 he was named National Federation of High School Associations (NFHSA) Coaches Association 2019 State Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.

LRHS athletic and activities director Kent Ringquist said, “We are sad to see Schiller go but are happy for his new opportunities. Schiller is leaving a legacy at LRHS through the basketball program, which we hope to keep going once he is gone.”

Schiller said  his time at LRHS has been very impactful and has taught him many lasting lessons, however this new opportunity will give him the ability to be around family in Lakewood Ranch while still advancing his career.
