Mustangs celebrate a district title

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS girls track and field Mustangs won first place in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 4A-District 8 track meet Saturday.

The Mustangs comfortably beat Venice High School, 163.5 to 122.

LRHS English teacher and head track and field coach Kristin Wikstrom said, “I am so proud of our girls and how hard they have worked all season.”

Senior Fallon Gehrke wins a title

Here are the Mustangs who placed first in individual events –

  • 1600-meter run: Junior Grace Marston
  • 3200-meter run: Junior Grace Marston
  • 4×800 meter relay: relay team
  • High Jump: Senior Fallon Gehrke
  • Shot Put: Senior Riley Simmons

“I am thrilled to see how well they continue to do as individuals and as a team,” Wikstrom continued.

Meanwhile, senior pole vaulter Eli Newman placed first in the district boys meet.
