Cassidy McLellan- Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS varsity softball team played two games this week, outscoring their opponents 17-3.
On Tuesday, April 13, the girls played Sarasota High School at Sarasota and won 11-2.
Sophomore Olivia Laney and Junior Ella Coiner played well throughout the game.
Laney pitched five innings with seven strikeouts and Coiner pitched two innings with 2 strikeouts.
Senior Jillian Herbst went two for three with two RBIs.

Herbst said, “I am excited for post season so we can work towards completing our goal of competing for and winning a state title.”
On Thursday, April 15, the girls played at home and beat Parish High School 6-1.
Laney pitched a complete game, only allowing three hits, striking out 8, and giving up 0 earned runs.
Junior Taylor Shephard went three for three with a homerun, a double and an RBI.
“For the next games in the season, I want to do everything I possibly can to help my team win,” said Shephard.
The girls next game is 7 p.m. on Monday, April 26, at home vs. McKeel Academy.
