(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS boys varsity baseball team faced the Braden River Pirates in a rivalry series this week that took place on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The Mustangs played all three games very close to the Pirates. Both teams combined for only 10 runs over the three-game series as defense and pitching dominated.

Monday’s game took place at home, where senior Brett Plimley pitched six solid innings giving up only one run and four hits. Senior John Schroeder took matters into his own hands and ended the game with a walk off hit to win the game 3-2 to start off the series.

Wednesday saw the Mustangs travel to Braden River for game two of the series that saw the Mustangs losing 1-0 in a close game despite senior Noah Harsche’s dominant performance on the mound.

Pitching dominated again for the Mustangs again Thursday night at home. Senior Tyson Meyer pitched 4.2 innings, giving up only one hit and four strikeouts. Junior Mason Wozniak got the save pitching 2.1 innings to get the win.

The Mustangs were led by Seniors Stone Frishman and Cam Martin who both went 2-3 and helped the Mustangs tack on four runs which would prove to be plenty enough.

Senior Tyson Meyer stated, “I am extremely proud of the guys for winning this series. Braden River played a great series and really tested us, and nothing feels better than winning against our rivals. We are all looking forward to the playoffs.”
