(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Last Saturday, April 2, the Lakewood Loves Animals Club (LLA) hosted a beach cleanup at Holmes Beach.

Mustangs arrived at the beach at and spent several hours cleaning up trash.

Once finished LLA acquired over six garbage bags filled with plastic, cans, and food waste.

LLA’s club advisor Catherine Franek spoke on behalf of the club and recalled some of the items Mustangs picked up.

“There was a lot of bottles and alcoholic beverages, and plastic containers, which would have been so dangerous if any animals came by and thought it was food,” said Franek.

Mustangs learned a lot about current environmental issues during this outing, which helped them make important decisions for the future of LLA.

Ryan Javate (11) gave a quick recap on his experience helping at the cleanup.

“We hope to host more beach cleanups by the time next year rolls around. It was kind of disgusting seeing all these cigarette butts, cans, etc. This was pretty eye-opening, more needs to be done to protect the beaches. It was also a lot of fun”

LLA hopes to continue raising awareness on environmental protection and saving animals from harm.
