Baseball takes winning record into rivalry week

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS boys’ varsity baseball team has a record of 9-8 following a three-game week.

The three games were on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday against Manatee High School, IMG High School Silver team and Booker High School.

The Mustangs beat Manatee 3-0, lost to IMG 6-5 and beat Booker 10-0 in only five innings.

The Mustangs will play three games this week against Braden River High School for “rivalry week.” The games are scheduled for  6 p.m. Monday at home, 6 p.m. Wednesday away, and 6 p.m. Thursday at home.

This may be the Mustangs’ biggest challenge yet considering the Pirates have a record of 15-2 and are ranked in Florida’s top 20.

Senior Mustang catcher John Schroeder stated, “I am excited for our team to take on this challenge to prove to everyone what team we can be. We are all excited and just want to go out and have fun and play hard.”

Upcoming games for the Mustangs include two home games against IMG Silver High School and Riverview Sarasota High School, and an away game at Calvary Christian High School in Clearwater next week.
