(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS celebrated teacher its Champions of Education Thursday with breakfast and lunch.

The celebrations are district-led initiatives to express gratitude to educators and staff members for their efforts overcoming this year’s Covid-19 pandemic.

The Student Government Association (SGA) provided breakfast in the courtyard and HOPE ambassadors passed out goodies.

Certificates were also given away to recognize faculty and staff.

The celebration continued during lunchtime, when pizza and brownies were served in the dance room, paid for by the district.

Each day since March 1, a department has been spotlighted as the Champions on “Mustangs Ahead” and on social media.

LRHS assistant principal Jillian Bieber said, “The goal was to make the day as stress free as possible before spring break, and I think teachers were very happy.”

Bieber also said, “It was a joy and a pleasure to do it; it’s been a tough year for everybody with Covid, and it’s nice to think that we’re hopefully coming out of the other side.”

An article in Bradenton Patch stated, “The School District of Manatee County honors its teachers and support staff – including food service workers, bus drivers and custodians – for their dedication to students during the coronavirus pandemic as part of its ‘Champions of Education’ initiative.”

To continue the celebration a $100 Publix gift card will be drawn for a random staff member Friday.
