Meghan Llamas – Mustangs Ahead 

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As the LRHS lacrosse teams finish their second week of games, the boys varsity, girls varsity, and girls junior varsity (JV) lacrosse teams each ended the week with victories.

The boys varsity team took home a win against Sarasota Military Academy this past Tuesday 20-1, bringing their record up to 1-2.

They play again at 7 p.m., Friday, just after the girls varsity game, against Venice High School at home.

The girls varsity team played two games this week, winning their away game against St. Petersburg Catholic on Tuesday 10-8 and losing a close home game on Thursday against Cardinal Mooney 12-13. Their current record is 3-1.

The girls varsity team will also be playing at home on Friday, at 5 p.m., against Bloomingdale.

Senior Erika Lyvers said, “Last night was a tough game, but tonight we have a district game, so we are going to pull it together, work hard and hopefully leave the field with a win.”

Finally, the girls junior varsity team played their first game last night, Thursday, starting their season off strong with a win against Cardinal Mooney’s junior varsity team with a score of 7-5 and giving them a record 1-0.

The girls next game will be home at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 1, against Out of Door Academy.

As for the boys junior varsity team, they played their first two games on Tuesday, Feb. 16, and Saturday, Feb. 20, unfortunately losing against Riverview and Venice.

The boys junior varsity team will play again on Saturday, March 20, against Venice.

Sophomore Landon Llamas said, “We have a lot of time till our next game, so hopefully we can train and work and beat Venice the next time around.”
