(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS band program has been limited this year due to COVID-19 but the solo and ensemble competitions took place virtually.

This past weekend several band Mustangs participated in the District Solo and Ensemble competition.

The top-ranking Mustangs are listed below:

Junior Ellie Nauman – Superior

Senior Emma Tullio – Superior

Sophomore Lucia DeVictor – Excellent

To prepare for this competition, Mustangs were required to choose an approved piece of music from the competition website.

They had to practice and perfect the piece before the Saturday, Feb. 20 deadline.

Some Mustangs were required to find a pianist to accompany them during the competition.

In order to be fully prepared for the judge, Mustangs had to hold their own individual rehearsals with the pianist and practice on their own.

The virtual competiton tasked Mustangs with recording their performance ahead of time or performing via a live call with the judge.

Once that was completed, Mustangs went over the comments the judge had for their performance.

Cravens, Nauman, and Tullio will advance to the state solo and ensemble competition later this year.
