Morgan McCabe– Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) orienteering team has had another successful orienteering competition at Alafia State Park.

This was their toughest competition of the season, earning first place in every category and overall.

Sophomore Nicole Majewski took first place and junior Olivia D’Orazio took third in the female novice level. In the male novice level, sophomore Lorenzo Liberti took second along with freshman Ahmed Osman who took third.

At the intermediate male level, sophomore Jackson Fox placed first and senior Elliot Nelson second.

At the female advanced level senior Elise West took third, senior Amy Jones took second, and junior  Caleigh Herman placed third. Senior Garrett Andrews placed second and senior Ethan Shirah placed third in the male advanced category.

Junior Victor Klein said, “We did extremely well in this competition, especially as a team, we place first overall. While there were some who had issues with the course, we pulled through and I am so proud of what we accomplished.”

The orienteering teams’ next competition is scheduled for Saturday, March 27 at Starkey Preserve in New Port Richey.
