(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-The LRHS  Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) orienteering team had a successful race at North Port, Florida.

All LRHS orienteering teams who participated in the North Port competition received first place and won in the novice, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Junior Skye Stephen took second place in the female novice as well as GRADE Andrew Legutko who took second among the male novice.

At the intermediate female level junior Olivia Sahr took third, and at the male’s intermediate level senior Alex Dine placed first and junior William McBride third.

Finally, sophomore Samantha Rees placed first and senior Elise West took third in the advanced female level.  In the males advanced level senior Ethan Shirah took first and senior Garrett Andrews placed third.

Rees said, “I love how orienteering challenges me in ways I have never been challenged in and forces me to problem solve. The adrenaline at the starting line gets me ready for the race and pushes me to find the fastest route possible.”

The orienteering teams’ next competition will be on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Alafia State Park.
