Senior Jessie Carff is the latest Mustang awarded an ROTC scholarship

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Three LRHS Seniors have been chosen for the National Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Scholarship.

Senior Jessie Carff is the latest from LRHS picked for the National ROTC Scholarship.

Senior Garrets Andrews and Elise West were earlier awarded four-year scholarships.  Carff got a three-year scholarship, one of only 1000 awarded annually.

Carff commented, “The process to apply for the scholarship was quite lengthy and took several steps. My first requirement was to submit the preliminary paperwork, consisting of my resume, grades, test scores, leadership opportunities, and PT test. I was then pushed forward to be considered by the board.”

She was then interviewed in front of a board of Army Cadets who asked personal and leadership questions.

Carff explains that this process taught her how to properly prepare herself and be confident in what she is saying.

Carff, Andrews, and West will be part of the ROTC programs at their respective colleges and will then go on to serve in the military.

Carff advised, “For any future seniors, keep working because it is definitely worth it.”
