(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)  is working to help a long-time Mustang teacher confront some health issues.

FCA gathers to do service projects for the community, share the word of Christ, and pray. Non- athletes and non-Christians are welcome to join as well.

Club adviser and physical education teacher Kelly Smith-Williams said, “We are currently working on a service project called Danke Family Breast Cancer Treatment basket in honor of breast cancer survivor retired teacher.”

The Danke Family Breast Cancer Treatment basket is collecting items for recovery from a major surgery.

All can help by donating items such as magazines, crosswords, inspiration cards of encouragement, sanitizing items to disinfect, floral and colorful masks, water, and warm socks.

Smith-Williams said, “When someone receives these treatments, they can take hours and with COVID they have to do them alone at the cancer centers.  Hence the need for magazines and inspirational cards for reading and it can be cold and uncomfortable hence asking for sanitizing items and warm items.”

All the items donated are to be dropped off to room 730.

FCA meets in room 730 every Tuesday morning from 7 – 7:25 a.m. and all are welcome to join throughout the year.
