(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- When LRHS Mustangs returned from winter break they were asked, “How were the holidays different for you this year?”

The US Centers for Disease Control recommended everyone use extra caution over the holidays as the number of COVID-19 cases grows across the US.

Freshman Scott Barkey said that, “My family and I typically will go north to see our family in New Jersey. However, due to COVID-19 we Facetimed instead to stay safe.”

Senior Marissa Briggs was in a similar situation to Barkey.

Briggs stated, “I normally spend Christmas Eve with a lot of extended family, but due to COVID we couldn’t meet this year to be sure we all stayed safe and socially distant.”

Sophomore Katie Folley said, “My family usually will have a big party but we couldn’t do that this year. It was a little bit sad and definitely not as fun and it did not feel like Christmas.”

Junior Kaylee Kehler explained, “The holidays were a bit different this year as my whole family was not able to come visit us on Christmas.”
