Cassidy McLellan- Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS National Honors Society (NHS) worked to bring joy to those who cannot see their family during the holiday season.
Individual NHS members created or bought 5-20 holiday cards to spread happiness and to give thanks to those around the community who have helped during the pandemic. For example, healthcare workers, first responders, etc.
The holiday cards went to local fire stations, Sarasota Memorial Hospital and local nursing homes.

NHS Adviser and LRHS English teacher, Mary Ellen Eskett said, “I am starting a drive to collect Christmas/Holiday cards for shut ins (nursing homes, assisted living, long term care facilities). Let’s spread some sunshine and cheer!”
Over 1000 cards were collected and given and spread holiday spirits and joy.
“I really enjoyed getting to spread some joy during the holidays to people who needed it most,” said NHS member Mariska VanLinder, junior.
