(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Mustangs for Kids club is collecting books for the children at Shriners hospital this Christmas.
“This was actually my idea,” said club president junior Erin Elizabeth Purcell. “I learned that the free books in the library were to be thrown away if they weren’t taken so I decided to arrange for them to be donated to a children’s hospital. After so many people seemed to want to help it turned into a kind of book drive,”

Over 200 books have been collected and are being disinfected before being put into boxes. The books will be donated to the children at Tampa’s Shriners Hospital.
Purcell said, “Many of the children at Shriners are stuck in quarantine as they are high risk cases, and I thought this way a perfect way to not only give them a gift at Christmas but to keep them entertained while in quarantine.“
