Mustang wrestlers record win at Lemon Bay

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Mustang wrestling team placed second out of 17 teams at the Lemon Bay Duals on Sunday, Dec. 6.

The dual consisted of five rounds in total with the Ranch winning all but the third round.

First-year wrestler, 126-pound freshman Tucker Rodriguez. pinned his opponent from Cape Coral to guarantee the team win.

The wrestling season will feature a total of eight varsity tournaments and four additional JV tournaments. There will also be six dual meets and six more JV dual meets.

There are 40 total mustangs taking part in wrestling this year, 10 seniors.

“This year has been different due to COVID-19; safety pre-cautions such as daily temperature checks, mandatory masks, social distancing, and practicing in three to four pods,” said Mustang wrestling coach Patrick Ancil.
