LRHS senior Jillian Herbs signs her National Letter of Intent.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Three Mustangs seniors took the next step in their academic and athletic careers Thursday. John Shroeder, Jillian Herbst, and Sofia Jamieson signed their National Letters of Intent (NLI), to continue their careers at their respected colleges.

Shroeder will be attending Florida Atlantic University to play baseball. “I am very excited to have the opportunity to sign and play at the next level,” Shroeder said.

Shroeder said, “hitting the walk off base hit as a freshman on varsity to win the districts final game” was his favorite memory.

Herbst will be playing softball at Colgate University. “I am super excited to finally make it official and play at Colgate next year. It is one closer stepper to being able to play at the next level which has been my dream since I was little,” Herbst said.

Her favorite moment from her time at Lakewood Ranch was, “My freshman year I was leading off the game for the regional finals and hit a double against a pitcher that shut the team down the year before and we ended up winning to get to go to states for the first year in a while.”

Jamieson will take her talents to Bentley University to play soccer. Signing day meant so much to Sofia because, “I am super excited to sign because I get to play the sport, I love for the next four years.”

Jamieson’s takeaway from playing with the Mustangs was, “being able to play with girls I haven’t played with in a while and competing and making new friendships.”
