Cameron Madison – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity and JV esports teams successfully competed in a tournament Thursday, Oct. 22.
In the tournament both the varsity (“A”) and junior varsity (“B”) teams competed in an electronic game called Rocket League. Rocket League is a soccer-like game where the objective is to advance the ball downfield using mobile vehicles and score goals.
The A team played Cony High School from Maine and won by a score of 3-0. The B team lost by a score of 0-3 to Avon Grove High School from Pennsylvania.

The eSports program is new to the Ranch but quickly becoming popular as Mustangs compete in their favorite on-line games against schools across the country.
LRHS esports coach and math teacher Mark Marron said, “This tournament was a great experience for our teams, and I am happy with how we played. We worked through some difficulties during the game, but we now know what to work on and will do better our next contest.”
