First Mustang esports match set for Thursday

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS’s very first esports match is scheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22.   The Mustangs are split into two three-person teams known as the “A” and “B” teams. 

Team A will be up against Cony High School in Maine, and team B will play against Avon Grove High School in Pennsylvania in Rocket League.

Esports is competitive video gaming platform in which teams face off against one another playing popular online games. Rocket League is an online game combining auto racing and soccer. 

LRHS esports coach and math teacher Mark Marron said, “I am very excited to be a part of the Ranch’s first esports program and proud to be bringing this program into Manatee County.”
