(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS will introduce esports to the school’s list of extracurricular activities.

Esports is a form of sports competition using video games.  It is growing rapidly all over the world.

It gives gamers a chance to separate from casual play and compete against others.

LRHS math teacher Mark Marron will coach the team.

“Here at the Ranch our goal is to play Rocket League, Fortnite, League of Legends, Overwatch, and Smite,” he said.

Marron added, “The ideal number of members is around 20, giving 3-5 for any given game.”

Teams can play other high schools across the country or ones in their same county.

Mustangs can join through a schoology group, and communicate through Discord.

Marron said, “This year I hope we can grow as a program and generate interest, so more Mustangs want to join.”
