Football hopes to continue winning ways

The LRHS Mustangs (in green) are enjoying a winning season.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS varsity and junior varsity (JV) football teams both have games coming up this week.

Varsity football (3-1) plays an away game at Venice High School at 7 p.m. on Oct. 16.

Varsity player junior Tobias Davis said, “it’s going to be a tough game we are going to have continue to practice hard and play hard.”

Last week Varsity football beat Gulf High School 59-12.

“It was a great team win,” said head coach Rashad West. “Another step forward for the program. The guys accepted the challenge and responded in the way I hoped they would.”

The JV Mustangs (2-1) play at North Port High School at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 14.   The Mustangs defeated North Port 84-0 Sept. 30.

JV player junior Ranson Coons said, “we have been working hard and I’m looking forward to see if we will win.”
