(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Girls interested in joining flag football get ready.

“I’m looking for Lakewood Ranch’s best to help bring home a title!” said flag football coach Elijah Weaver.

LRHS flag football will hold an interest and info meeting Tuesday, Oct. 13 and Thursday, Oct. 15. Multi-sport athletes are encouraged to attend. Last year 43 girls played on the team.

“My excitement for the season is through the roof,” said Senior Shivanie Ghansiam.  “It is a bittersweet moment for it to be my last season but our expectations for this season are high and we are prepared with a lot of seniors on the team this year.”

The meeting will be after school at 3 p.m. on the field at the Mustang Stadium.

Social distancing rules will be in effect and all players must wear masks while attending.

Weaver said this year will be the most experienced flag football team the Mustangs have had in a while with 16 total seniors on the team.

“The team feels like a family, it’s always fun to go out and play the game I love with these girls and grow closer with them all. Hopefully this year we can do better than last and improve ourselves every game,” said Junior Leijah Morin.

Interested girls can see Weaver in room 918 with any questions.
