Wrestlers ready to hit the mats

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The 2020 LRHS wrestling season will officially be underway starting Monday, Nov. 9. Voluntary conditioning is currently taking place and practices will soon follow. 

Wrestling coach Patrick Ancil said, “We will only be doing conditioning to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.”  

Ancil is expecting around 30-40 student athletes to try out for the team. Both boys and girls are welcomed on the same team.

The first meet will be at Palmetto High School on Saturday, Nov. 28 for a preseason classic. 

Meets will be held at the Ranch and other high schools in the county. 

COVID-19 safety protocols are enforced in the wrestling room every day, from wearing a mask to keeping as social distant as much as possible.  

Ancil said, “Our goals for this season are to qualify our wrestlers for the state meet, as well as medal earners, having our first state champion, and place top ten for team state GPA championship.”
