(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On August 14, the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) decided that fall sports, including girls’ volleyball, can officially start on Monday, Aug. 24.
LRHS volleyball will follow the FHSAA’s plan and hold tryouts on Monday.
For freshman and sophomores interested, tryouts will be from 3-4:30 p.m. For juniors and seniors, tryouts will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
All players must bring their athletic paperwork such as the consent form, a physical, insurance, and a check to the LRHS gym.

All Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines/school rules will be followed before, during, and after practices.
Players will be in groups/shifts and will have to go in the gym according to their designated time.
According to the FHSAA, the first allowable practice date is Aug. 24, the last allowable regular season date is Oct. 10 and state finals will be Nov. 13-14.
Returning coach Perri Hankins will lead varsity this year.
Hankins stated, “Varsity will play a full schedule of tough games in hopes to get in the playoffs in November.”
“Our team lost some key players but are returning and adding depth that will make a team that will compete hard and be fun to watch,” Hankins continued.
