Students return to LRHS Aug. 17.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) -On Monday, August 17, Mustangs return to LRHS for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

Due to COVID-19 certain procedures have been changed and added. One of the biggest is the requirement of masks.

Mustangs will be required to wear face masks that cover their noses and mouths at all times on campus, excluding lunch. Students will be provided with two Lakewood Ranch face masks and an optional face shield.

The back-to-school/freshman orientation is now online and available on the LRHS website.

Social distancing will be required when at all possible given the number of students, tight corridors, and classrooms. Courtyard gathering areas have been expanded to the portables and behind Building 5 to accommodate this.

Detailed student first-day procedures can be found here.

Sanitizing stations are hung on the walls around the campus and all teachers will have hand sanitizer in their rooms. Mustangs are also encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer and to wash their hands regularly.

Course offerings in music, art, business, technology, and physical education have been altered due to COVID.

The 2020-21 school year will feature a combination of full-time on-campus, full-time eLearning and hybrid classes.

Hybrid students should check schoology at 7:30 a.m. on the first day of school for instructions on what to do.

Hybrid or eLearning students in need of a device should go to the school website for a form requesting one.

Hybrid senior Jessica Carff said, “I am excited for the school year, but am anxious to see the precautions set by the district to keep everyone safe.”

Full-time senior Emma Tschetter said, “I am excited to go back to go back to school full-time. I just want things to get back to normal and am eager to see my friends and teachers face to face again!”
