(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – For the new 2020-2021 season, the LRHS cheerleading team has set up a mentor program with the varsity and junior varsity (JV) cheerleaders.

This program was created to help the new students on the team learn cheers and dances they must perform at football games.

LRHS cheer coach and teacher’s aide Sherri Haber said, “I wanted to have this in place to help the JV team learn the cheers, even in these conditions.”

Junior and captain of the team Madison Kahler said, “Coach Sherri and I wanted to do something special for the new JV cheerleaders because of the conditions we are currently dealing with.”

In previous years, the LRHS cheerleading program had similar programs like this in place, but only for students on varsity. This year, Coach Haber wanted to include both varsity and JV athletes.

Haber said, “For this season and ones going forward, I want the varsity team and the JV team to be connected, rather than strangers to each other like previous years.”
