hosa-logo(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Despite the current circumstances requiring social distancing and e-learning, LRHS HOSA has been able to overcome this dilemma to still have their officer elections for the next school year.

Elections took place over Instagram and Remind where everyone’s speeches were posted with ballots attached.

HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare to all people.

The 2019-2020 HOSA president Senior Nicolette Ngov said, “Elections were good! Everything ran pretty smoothly despite the current situation. The only thing that was an issue was getting videos to be one minute long.

The elections included Julian Mckinnon and Maya Rengifo running for president-elect, Anastasia Jenkins and Samantha Greenfield running for vice president, Nicole Chen running for secretary, Anna Huszar and Sydney Granack running for treasurer, and Sara Huszar and Aneesa Shariff running for historian.

In addition to elections, LRHS HOSA is still managing to stay involved.

“We’ve been posting on our Instagram a lot and participating in HOSA’s online spirit week,” said Ngov said“It’s been hard being involved online versus in person, but I think we have been able to find our stride nicely.
