Jillian Herbst and Gaby Rosabal – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH,FL)- The LRHS softball season was recently cancelled along with all the other spring sports. The season might be over, but all the players’ hearts are still in the team. The team has been holding weekly meetings over video, so the team can get together and talk.
No one expected that their season would be over before it truly began so the team is trying to make light of all the events that are happening and continuing to be there for each other even if it is over social media.
The weekly discussions are first started by a group discussion that is led by varsity head coach TJ Goelz, telling the team any updates.
Then the second part of the call usually involves some sort of fun game to keep the team competitive. Lastly, the coaches leave the call and the players get to interact and be there for each other. The calls usually last around two hours.
The players all really enjoy these meetings.
Junior Faith Ross said, “The meetings are a great time to get everyone back together for a little while. It is something I look forward to all week. The team has really come together during this time to help one another in any way possible.”
The seniors of 2020 were a legendary class; the whole LRHS softball community is heartbroken to have seen their season get cut short.
As for a senior night and a softball banquet, the team plans to continue those traditions as soon as the team can safely do so.
