Mustang athletes focus on home fitness

free exercise pix -400(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- With a state-wide shelter in place order, many people have found themselves unable to attend a gym. While this may be inconvenient, there are still many ways to stay fit from home.

For example, the Mustangs Football and Basketball teams have implemented at home workouts. Workouts like dips and dip shrugs can be performed between two chairs rather than a dip bar. The simpler workouts like pushups and burpees don’t require anything.

Within the shelter in place, recreation is allowed. This means you can still go for a run or bike ride. These are great ways to stay in shape if you are looking to do some cardio.

Sophomore Matthew Feldman is a basketball player here at the Ranch. Though impacted by the sudden closures of gyms, he is staying persistent in his workouts with the help of technology.

“I think it helps to work at your own pace, and with an app called train heroic, I can track myself,” said Feldman. “While it is nice to work out from home, I find that I get distracted easily and that it’s difficult to find substitutes for certain workouts.”
