Joey Cotton – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Following another successful season by the Varsity Mustang Boys Soccer Team, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune has listed senior Jacob Jordan on their “Best of HT Preps” list, as well as nominating him for Player of the Year.
Jordan, captain of the squad and lead scorer of the team, ended the season with 20 goals and seven assists.
“Finding out I was nominated and having the chance to win Player of the Year makes this season better than it already was. It feels amazing knowing I have not only been selected as one of the “Best of HT Preps” but as player of the year as well,” said Jordan.
Senior Mustang and teammate Daniel Hernandez said, “Jordan is not just a great player who can make a difference on the pitch, but he’s also a great leader. He always encourages his teammates and plays until the final whistle, no matter what the score is.”
Varsity boys’ soccer coach Vito Bavaro said, “Jacob has so much heart; he was asked to fill a role this year as our goal scorer because we needed him, and he did so without question. He is an absolutely selfless player.”
“I am grateful and lucky to have the people who helped me along the way to give me this opportunity,” said Jordan.
Bavaro, meanwhile, was named the paper’s boys soccer coach of the year.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be selected coach of the year,” said Bavaro. “I could not have done it without the support of my assistants, players, and administrators.”
