Congrès consists of eight different competitions and French Club will be participating in five of them: Pièce de Théâtre, Projet, Album, Déclamation, and Lecture.

Pièce de Théâtre is a performance of a scene from a published French play by various levels of students. Four LRHS Congrès participants will be performing a scene from “Les Precieuses Ridicules”, a satire by Molière.

The “Déclamation” is the recitation of a French poem in French. Three Congrès participants of varying levels will be reciting poems.

The Lecture is a multiple choice reading comprehension test that will be taken by a level two and a level three French student.

Both the Album and the Projet are competitions that will need to adhere to the theme “l’architecture du monde francophone” or the architecture of the French-speaking world.

The Album will be worked on by the entire group of Congrès participants but will be headed by a single individual. It will consist of the making of a scrapbook, documenting the preparation for Congrès, and projects in class.

The Projet will be an art project that reflects the theme and it will be headed by Grace Parry.

“I’m really excited about the Projet,” Parry said, “It’s artistic and I enjoy doing artsy things. I have a few ideas, but I think we might do some sort of a collage with buildings from different French speaking places.”

After their latest meeting on Feb. 6, the Congrès participants are excited and eager to start preparing for the different competitions.
