The Lakewood Loves Animals club uses art to remind Mustangs they can help Australia fire victims.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS Lakewood Loves Animals (LLA) has been collecting funds for animals affected by Australia’s recent wildfires.

The club placed jars in volunteering first period classes across campus, asking teachers and students to drop in loose change.

In just two weeks Mustangs have so far collected $800 dollars in donations from teachers and students.

Anyone who would still like to donate to the cause can leave money or a check in the donation box in LLA adviser and LRHS math teacher Catherine Franek’s room.

Meanwhile, the club will volunteer at the Manatee County Humane Society walk-a-thon this weekend at the Bradenton Riverwalk.

Franek said all Mustangs are encouraged to come show their support.
