Mariska VanLinder – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Mustangs of the Quarter have been announced for the third quarter.
Winners are nominated by teachers or staff members. Students who are nominated for this award display outstanding character such as helping a fellow student who is struggling, standing up to a bully, or goes out of their way to assist someone.
The winners are seniors Morgan Trevithick and Brittany McFarlin and sophomores Cassidee Calamaras and Logan Barrett.
Trevithick was nominated due to her attitude and willingness to help those who may need a friend.
According to an LRHS staff member, Trevithick was nominated because, “She has a ‘can do’ attitude and is always helpful, supportive, and kind to her fellow students.”
McFarlin was nominated by science Teacher Faust Delazzer.
“Even though Brittany does not have a first period class, she comes to my anatomy class everyday. She helps set up labs, and tutors my students that need help,” said Delazzer. “She also helps organize my chaos. She has made my life easier all with an infectious smile.”
Calamaras was nominated by social studies Teacher Kyle Steinberg.
“Cassidee is a fantastic student in my world history class. She is always willing to help others in her class,” said Steinberg. “She is kind to her fellow students and myself. She is dedicated to her academic success.”
Barrett was nominated by Exceptional Student Education specialist Julie Young.
“This is Logan’s first year at LRHS. I have seen tremendous growth since August in his level of maturity and willingness to take responsibility. He arrives to school with a positive attitude and making us smile every morning,” said Young. “Recently, he has taken on the job of a mentor to a student who is new to his biology class. Logan helps this student get to class on time and be successful.”
Winners will receive prizes and coupons from local businesses. They will also have their picture posted in the media center for the rest of the year.
