Daniel Hernandez – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-The LRHS boys’ varsity wrestling team had regional playoffs last week and two Mustang wrestlers are heading to states this upcoming weekend at The Silver Spurs Arena.
Wrestlers seniors Colby Keane (160 pounds) and Angelo LaFrese (220 pounds) will wrestle for an individual state championship in their respective weight classes. LaFrese won second place in regionals and Keane won third place.
Seniors Cam Schilson, Brandon Herten, and Anthony Salerno all finished their careers one match short of the blood round (elimination round).
Coach Patrick Ancil believes in these two excellent state finalists and he is very proud of the other wrestlers who didn’t make it through.
“This was, without a doubt, one of the top two toughest regions in the state and all eight of our young men wrestled at a very high level. I couldn’t be more proud of how well they did,” said Ancil.
