Csenge Csicsek – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS theatre department is celebrating their success with the musical Mamma Mia! Mustangs performed the show Feb. 7 and 8, 14 and 15 with a total of six performances.
Students got to audition for the show shortly after the drama department’s annual fall cabaret program. The official cast list was released soon after the auditions, including science teacher Larry Hickman as the character Father Alexandrios.
It was sophomore Aldan Rossnagel’s first time performing in a theatre showcase.
“It was honestly amazing; it was one of the best experiences of my life.” said Rossnagel. “It boosted my confidence being an ensemble member, it made me feel part of the group and it went really well.”
As for the crew, it has been a long, but pleasing journey creating all the set pieces and getting all the production necessities ready.
Senior crew member Braeden Reed said it was a rewarding process.
“There were three different possible ways this show could have gone.” said Reed. “Mamma Mia! went the route of excellence and I don’t see how anyone could resist it.”
Hickman said, “I played Father Alexandrios in the play. As with the other plays I have been involved in here at LRHS it is always an honor and pleasure to work with the talented students in the drama department. The cast and crew did a fantastic job.”
LRHS drama director Roxane Caravan said those who attended had nothing but great things to say about the show. The seats were filled by many members of the community, as well as students.
Caravan said, “Overall, I was very pleased with the outcome, and we really enjoyed the music, costumes, and amazing scenic design that really set the mood for the show.”
