Peter Fisichella– Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – A Mustang senior has received from Florida congressmen Vern Buchanan one of the highest recommendations a student can get. Each year members of Congress nominate high school seniors for admission to the U.S. Air Force, Merchant Marine, Military and Naval academies.
LRHS senior Brandon Gadeken was nominated by Buchanan to the U.S. Military and Air Force academies. Gadeken looks forward to attending the Air Force Academy.
“I got accepted into the US military academy at West Point as well as the US air force academy and have chosen to commit to the air force. I want to be a pilot and am very excited to further my education to be able to do so,” said Gadeken.
Gadeken was ecstatic about this honor and was happy that his hard work is paying off.
“Having worked on my application for over a year and preparing for a long time it feels amazing. It’s all accumulated into this nomination and I could not be happier to finally see it come together,” said Gadeken.
In order to qualify for a military academy, students must get an endorsement from a member of congress and then enter the rigorous application process to get accepted into a prestigious academy.
Buchanan said he was excited to name Gadeken and all nominees from other local schools.
“Each nominee is deserving of the privilege of attending one of our nation’s prestigious service academies and will represent our community well. I wish each of my nominees luck throughout the remainder of the selection process,” said Buchanan in a press release.
