Charlize Ucciferri – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Thursday the LRHS cheerleading program finished off the season with their annual banquet at the Tara golf and country club.
At the event, first-year junior varsity (JV) and varsity cheerleaders were given their letters.
Junior varsity cheerleader freshman Savannah Else said, “I was so happy when I received my letter, and I am hoping to receive my varsity one next season.”
All athletes at the banquet that maintained an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher received an award.
Varsity cheerleader Madison Kahler said, “I think it is great that people with an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher are recognized because sometimes it could be difficult being a student athlete.”
Several varsity awards were given out at the banquet to recognize some of the most hardworking cheerleaders of the season. This includes:
- Mental Toughness: Freshman Quinn Brown
- Rookie of the Year: Sophomore Ashley Langlois
- Most Improved: Sophomore Taylor Folkers
- Veteran of the Year: Junior Emma Wilson
- All Inclusive: Senior Katelyn Wilhoit
- Most Valuable Cheerleader: Senior Taylor Ferber
- Most Outstanding Senior: Senior Ellie Bonnet
Folkers said, “I was super shocked when my name was called out for the most improved award. There were many other girls on the team that I think could have earned this award and I feel honored that I received it.”
Both the JV and varsity teams presented a slide show of pictures from the season to remember all the memories the team shared.
Varsity cheerleader sophomore Alyssa Ucciferri said, “The slideshow really helps me remember all of the fun times I had with the team. From UCA camp to nationals, I will definitely miss this team.”
JV coach and teacher aide at LRHS Sherri Haber said, “I will miss all of the girls on the JV team this season. They have all come so far from the beginning of the season and I hope I have prepared them well for varsity.”
