(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS art students are hosting a St. Jude Charity Drive during the month of February.

This drive was started by sophomore Mia Capozzi because she has family friends who are surviving cancer and wants to help children have a little fun while getting their treatments.

“I felt like I could contribute to help the children a little bit while they are I the hospital with different actives to keep them entertained,” said Capozzi.

Capozzi chose St. Jude because they have done so much to help children who are battling with cancer and she loves what St. Jude’s does to help the kids.

LRHS art teacher Abby Kolesa decided to sponsor this drive after speaking with Capozzi.

“Mia came to me and said she wanted to donate stuffed animals, dolls, and books to children at St. Jude,” said Kolesa.

St. Jude has listed toys they want donated for the children. These include:

  • Toys, dolls, action figures
  • Books, coloring books
  • Rattles
  • Earbuds and headphones
  • Crayons, paint, pens, pencils
  • Lip balm
  • Hair ties/ scrunches
  • Uno cards

All toys donated need to be brand new and never used. The donation box will be in Kolesa’s room until the end of February. For any further questions, please contact Kolesa in room 509 or go to St. Jude’s Website.
